We love Brussels – 4th edition at AB a great success

 |  Henrik Friis

With 600 guests at the shows, a fully booked networking dinner and a great atmosphere the 4th edition of SPOT On Denmark was the biggest and most succesful Belgian SPOT-venture to date. Check out the atmosphere from the shows via this Belgian TV repport (focussed on the Efterkids performance) right here: http://tvbrussel.be/video/13/brusselse-efterkids-deense-sferen

The Belgian press praised the night in their reviews, as illustrated by the following quotes:

“… With its best and most coherent edition thus far Spot on Denmark proved that a country of only five million people can produce exportable music that is appreciated by audiences abroad …”
– Dirk Steenhaut, Focus Knack review

“… Something is blooming in the state of Denmark: SPOT on Denmark proved to be an excellent festival with a nice atmosphere and great bands, see you next year! “
– Gertjan Rasschaert, Cuttingedge.be

The quotes from the participating Belgian and international music professionals, underline the great atmosphere we experienced in Brussels:

We’ll let the below-standing pictures tell the rest of the story:

Kurt Overbergh (artistic director at AB) and Christian Hald Buhl (SPOT On Denmark’s Strategy Manager) bid the 54 music industry guests from Denmark, Belgium, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Austria and Luxembourg welcome at the julefrokost networking event that preceeded the shows.

All the music industry and press guests had an individual meeting plan, and changed seats for each of the 3 courses of the networking dinner, in order to meet as many relevant people as possible in an intimate setting.

Ready, set, network… and we were off to a good start at the Entré of the networking dinner.

Traditional Danish Christmas food such as Karrysild was served during the networking dinner.

Intimate yet focussed networking: In this picture its exemplified by Hannes Tschürtz owner of the Austrian Ink Music “720 company” (right) and Rasmus Stolberg head of the Danish Rumraket label and manager/bassist of Efterklang.

First band of the night Chimes & Bells sucked the 600 spectators into their dark, hypnotic yet melodic universe.

Cody’s catchy alt-folk got the AB Box boiling, and even a group of Belgian girls screaming during the elegant duet of song “comfort & rage”.

The Kissaway Trail’s guitar-hooks and group-sing-along-harmonies were a splash of pure rock energy that the packed AB Box thoroughly enjoyed.

There is no denying it, Efterklang and their Belgian Efterkids was the most anticipated act of the bill, and they delivered!
